Welcome to Augustana Lutheran Church, ELCAAre you looking for an alternative to the current fundamentalist approach to Christianity? A place where questions are welcomed and not all the answers are known? A place where diversity of race, age, gender, sexual identity and ideas are valued and celebrated? Then you might enjoy the progressive Christian thinking that forms Augustana's approach to Bible study, theology and ethics, and worship and service.
The challenges we face today as individuals and communities cry out for more modern interpretations of scripture and creeds. Not everything about "that old time religion" is good enough for today's spiritual journey.
Check out the topics we discuss in our adult forum. Investigate the ways we serve our community. Worship with us to feel the spirit of acceptance and commitment...backed up by spirited music and relevant preaching.
We are an urban congregation with a 100-plus year history of innovation and community service. We continue that history as we seek to pursue progressive Christian thinking in our beautiful urban setting.
Learn more about us. We welcome you on "the way."
Welcome from Pastor Susan Butler
Augustana offers progressive Christianity in a traditional setting to the urban Omaha community. We are a congregation valuing grace, justice and faith in action. Together, we believe we are called to share Christ through love and action.
Augustana has a broad range of worship and service ministries including Sunday morning worship at 10:30 am and evening services at special seasons and occasions. Our education opportunities invite children, young persons, and adults in a variety of forums throughout the year. Check our Calendar for upcoming community events, meetings and guest speakers.
If you are new to the metro Omaha area or are looking for a welcoming place to worship, we encourage you to visit Augustana and share our spirit and enthusiasm as "children of the heavenly Father!"
Peace,
Pastor Susan Butler
